Scott County Family History
Book to be Published

NOTICE:
The deadline for free family history submissions to
this book has been extended until December 31, 2000.

The Scott County Mississippi Genealogical Society
in Forest met recently and elected to publish a new
book containing county-related history and family
histories to be entitled Scott County Mississippi
History and Families.

The large hardbound book will be of the highest
quality with a rich leather-tone cover with exquisite
gold embossing on its front and spine. The new book
will contain a comprehensive history of the county
since its formation, histories of all communities
(past and present), histories of churches, clubs
organizations, memorials and tributes, special
historical highlights of Scott County with the bulk of
the book containing the histories of Scott County
families - past and present. The Society will publish
the book with Rose Publishing Company of Humboldt,
Tennessee since they specialize in county-related
family history books and pictorial histories. Rose
has or is currently publishing books on DeSoto,
Kemper, Monroe, Alcorn, Newton, Carroll, Pontotoc,
Lee, Tippah, Jasper, Calhoun and Tishomingo Counties.
Smith County is also publishing a family history book
with Rose Publishing.

Any family who now lives in Scott County, has ever
lived in, or has any family ties to the county will be
eligible to submit up to 500 words with one family
photograph free of charge. Additional photos can be
included for $15.00 each and additional words are
subject to a nominal charge of 15 cents per word over
the 500-word limit. The Society is asking people who
submit family stories to submit them in a typed and
double-spaced form if possible. In addition, the
Society will offer the books at a special pre-sale
price of $52.00, plus $5.00 shipping, if mailed. After
Publication they will be $65.00.

According to Mary Schwab, president of the Scott
County Genealogical Society, the book will be unique
because it is a first-of-the-kind for Scott Countians
and will preserve family histories that otherwise
would not be preserved and lost forever. The future
generations will be the ones to benefit the most from
this book and learn what life was like for their
ancestors. Send family Histories or orders for books
